Stella is excited to announce the next iteration of Stella Day Out in Melbourne.
Local readers and writers will have the chance to hear directly from Stella Prize-listed writer Laura Elizabeth Woollett as she discusses her craft.
Laura Elizabeth Woollett is the author of a short story collection, two novels, and the novel-in-stories West Girls, which was long-listed for the 2024 Stella Prize. Born and raised in Boorloo/ Perth, she now lives in Naarm/ Melbourne. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, most recently a 2025 Keesing Studio Residency at the Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris. Hell Days: into the inferno of hormonal mood disorder is her nonfiction debut.
This will be a vibrant day of exciting conversation and big ideas, celebrating some of the best new Australian writing, hosted at Quest Collingwood.

Speakers

Ruby Perryman is a journalist and communications specialist. She has a background in magazine editing, and her writing has been published by Island, Archer, Australian Book Review, and more. Her audio journalism can be found on community radio programs The Wire and All The Best. Ruby is a lover of arts, culture and literature, and is driven by storytelling that makes change. She is Stella’s Communications Manager.
