Stella is excited to announce the next iteration of Stella Day Out in Wagga Wagga.
Local readers and writers will have the chance to hear directly from Stella Prize-listed writers Lucy Nelson and Romy Ash as they discuss their craft.
Lucy Nelson is an award-winning writer living on unceded Dharawal Country. Her first book Wait Here (Summit Books, Simon & Schuster) was longlisted for the 2026 Stella Prize and shortlisted for the 2026 Matt Richell Award, the UTS Glenda Adams Award and the Steele Rudd Award. Her work has been published in Meanjin, The Monthly, Kill Your Darlings, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Big Issue, Southword and elsewhere. She has received the Newcastle Short Story Award, the Writing NSW Varuna Fellowship, the Templeberg Fellowship from Writers Victoria and was shortlisted for the Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition. Lucy has been a guest panelist at the Bangalore Literature Festival in India, the Asia Pacific Writers and Translators Network in Macau, China and numerous Australian Writers’ Festivals.
Romy Ash is a critically acclaimed, award winning novelist. Her new novel Mantle was published this year. Her first novel Floundering was shortlisted for The Miles Franklin Award, The Prime Minister’s Literary Award, The Commonwealth Writers Prize and longlisted for the Stella Prize. Her children’s picture book As Bright as a Rainbow was published in 2024. Her essays and journalism have been published in The Saturday Paper, The Guardian, Meanjin, The Griffith Review and others.
This will be a vibrant day of exciting conversation and big ideas, celebrating some of the best new Australian writing, hosted at Wagga Wagga City Library.
Collins Booksellers Wagga will be selling Lucy and Romy’s work on the day.
