Kerryn Goldsworthy is a freelance writer and critic, and a former lecturer in literature at the University of Melbourne. She has been an editor of Australian Book Review and a member of the Literature Board of the Australia Council, and won the 2013 Pascall Prize for Criticism, earning the title Australian Critic of the Year. Her most recent book is Adelaide. Kerryn was chair of the Stella Prize judging panel from 2013–2015.
Tony Birch is the author of the books Shadowboxing (2006), Father’s Day (2009), Blood (2011), shortlisted for the Miles Franklin literary award, and The Promise (2014). His latest novel, Ghost River, won the 2016 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing. Both his fiction and nonfiction writing has been published widely in literary magazines and anthologies, both in Australia and internationally. He is currently the inaugural Bruce McGuinness Research Fellow within the Moondani Balluk Centre at Victoria University.
Annabel Crabb is the ABC’s chief online political writer, a regular guest on ABC TV shows such as Insiders, Gruen Nation and The Drum, and the host of her own political cooking show, Kitchen Cabinet. She also writes a weekly column for Fairfax. Her books include The Rise of the Ruddbot and the Quarterly Essay ‘Stop At Nothing: The Life And Adventures of Malcolm Turnbull’, for which she won a Walkley.
Fiona Stager is the co-owner of Avid Reader Bookshop and Cafe. She is the immediate past-president of the Australian Booksellers Association. Fiona lives in West End, Brisbane, with her family, five chickens and a native bee hive.
Brenda Walker is a novelist and Professor Emerita of English and Cultural Studies at the University of Western Australia. She is the author of the novels Crush, One More River, Poe’s Cat and The Wing of Night. The latter won the 2006 Nita B Kibble Award and the 2007 Asher Literary Award, and was shortlisted for the 2006 Miles Franklin Award. She is also a critic, essayist and editor. Her most recent book, Reading by Moonlight, was the winner of the 2010 Nita B. Kibble Award and the Nettie Palmer Prize for Non-fiction and the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards. Brenda was a judge of the 2014 Stella Prize, and was chair of the 2016 and 2017 Stella Prize judging panels.
